Dr. Melissa Tedone is a professional in repairing old books. She discovered this in early Spring 2019 while examining “Rustic Adornments for Homes of Taste”(1857). In the 1800s, people loved Emerald Green and put it on everything, from curtains to wallpapers, and even books. However, to make this Green, they needed Arsenic (a chemical element), which is poisonous, and the people in the 1800s knew this. One Arsenic Book is powerful enough to kill 3-4 adult people, but the only way to get it is by licking it.
Thankfully, nobody has died of this yet, but the next time you go to pick up a book, don’t lick it!
